What is GOL
GOL is a specialized team that promotes international research activities aimed at creating a society in which robots and avatars coexist with humans.

Members
As of April 1, 2025, our team consisted of five members: Director Horikawa; two researchers; one research engineer; and one career staff member.

Project
To achieve JST's Moonshot Goal 1: Realization of a society in which human beings can be free from limitations of body, brain, space, and time by 2050, we will promote the research and development of CA (Cybernetic Avatar) technology, which extends human physical, cognitive, and perceptual abilities.

Toward an Avatar Coexistence Society: Internationalization
Moon Shot Goal 1: International joint research, demonstration experiments, and corporate collaboration are now in full swing in the Avatar Coexistence Society Project.
Furthermore, joint research with the UAE and Dubai, which officially began in 2024, has received high praise in the MS community. Remarkable results have been achieved, including the organization of an international symposium by a corporate consortium.
Moving forward, we will advance international joint research strategically, establish and operate international open labs, foster international corporate collaborations, and conduct social implementation research. Our focus will be on the global expansion of the Avatar Coexistence Society while actively sharing information.

- DIL Research Report: Individual Differences in Variability of Pain Ratings (Presented at JAPAN PAIN WEEK)
Japanese On December 5th, the Deep Interaction Laboratory (DIL) presented its latest research findings at JAPAN PAIN WEEK, held at Tokyo Big Sight. We are delighted to have had this valuable opportunity to present our findings! Aiming for "Human-Friendly Avatars" This presentation is part of "Research and Development Item 6: Biological Impact Survey" under Moonshot Goal 1: The Realization of an Avatar-Symbiotic Society where Everyone Can Perform Active Roles without Constraint. It is a study that pursues what constitutes a human-friendly avatar, specifically focusing on individual characteristics (individual differences) and analyzing them from the perspective of personality traits. It is… Read more: DIL Research Report: Individual Differences in Variability of Pain Ratings (Presented at JAPAN PAIN WEEK) - DIL Research Report: Individual Differences in β-endorphin Mediated Analgesia (Presented at Re-born 6th)
